The self-proclaimed Upwork expert, could you please shed some light on the concept of Upwork shadow-banning?
(Where Shadow banning means, blocking a user without their knowledge, typically by making their profile no longer visible to other users - clients, i.e., on Google and the Upwork platform itself)
I don't mean account restrictions, suspension or blocking. Yes, Upwork does shadow-ban!
I don't claim to be an expert but as far as I know, shadow banning is a myth—a myth used by struggling freelancers who want to blame anybody but themselves.
I've certainly not seen any evidence that such a thing exiists...
Who are you referring to? I can only think Petra and hardly self-proclaimed.
Anyway I doubt shadow banning is a thing but what is your proof?
Upwork used to make our profile private (and hence unsearchable?) earlier. I forget what the exact reasons were. Lack of earning or inactivity, I think.
But that is not shadow-banning. We could clearly see that our profile had become private. Noting sneaky about it.
There has also been talk (without adequate proof) that not all proposals are shown to the client.
Again that would not fall under shadow-banning.

EpiqEDEM 😎 Being top rated with 100% JSS, offering consultations and withdrawing earnings weekly is not something special on Upwork. Even if their profile rotation only included freelancers who met all those criteria, you’d still be buried at the bottom for months on end.
Eve Nope, not me! This has to do with recent account holds. I trusted Upwork when I received an email that I got paid not knowing it was nothing to write home about. I got defrauded and this is the aftermath.
Can you share your profile link so I can see what it has and then try and find it in the public search?

Profiles are rotated in search. There are too many for them all to be shown at once.

Nonsense. Profiles are simply rotated and if you are banned, you are banned. Not "shadow banned" but completely banned. And yes this all sounds like an excuse to your inability to get jobs on UW. Yes, it is hard but not impossible. It used to be more reliable now we mostly compete with bots or wannabes with big wallets, still, your "success" is on you, not on someone else.

As for mentioning whoever you wish, I take it as a bait and I react accordingly because I do like to have fun with people sometimes. Glad you responded as I expected 😂
Rotation can be seen as a temp-ban, and it's "on someone else".
This doesn't happen to everyone, I know, but my last few posts in the previous forum is about "another of my experience" where I sent a proposal quite early, when there were less than 5 proposals, where interview counts keep increasing for a few days, until someone got hired at still less than 10 proposals submitted to the job, and my proposal is never seen.
I've had a lot of this experience, but the last one was quite convincing that my proposal is somehow hidden because there were only less than 10 proposal and the client is serious (interview counts increasing slowly) where somehow they don't click my proposal snippet. Something in my snippet is a major turn off, or the client never saw the snippet. Or the "proposal seen" notification is broken.
ps: Mod confirmed that proposals are also rotated A noob can become a best match, an expert can be placed in the "other" folder, but in my case above it doesn't really matter as there were only 10 proposals, so the rotation method is even more aggressive than I think.
