Thank you for creating a community for us! It's so crazy they removed the forum. It was such a helpful resource especially for newbies.

Hi from Turkey 👋 I’m just starting my freelancing journey, and I’m here because it seems to be the only active and fresh forum available. Thank you creators and contributors.

I just saw the community closed today. I was just thinking what is Petra, Will, and Preston going to do now? Glad there is another place to congregate. Now, be nice everybody.

Preston has not posted in the community since 2023, and not worked on Upwork for a long time either. Whether that has anything to do with him being sued by a client I do not know.

I had not posted on the community since May 2022 either, except very briefly aduring the last few days.

What are your hopes and expectations how to tackle situation once people hop in here and visitors/users grow too large? From what I understood upwork closed theirs since it was hard to manage.

I'm sure the admins of this community will handle it if that happens. It works fine on reddit where the Upwor sub has over 90k members.

        Whatever gave you that idea?

Maybe someone's random post, but my feeling too about place that it was chaotic and hard to handle. Lots of same questions over and over again. Dunno.

Petra -I haven't been there in a long time either, except for popping in when things get slow. I've dropped in maybe once or twice in 2024. I got tired of too many people complaining about buying connects, and honestly have been too busy helping clients or growing my business.

I'm beginning to think the Reddit group is dying so this one has come about at the right time.

I just read a thread on Reddit to find nothing but misinformation. I realized somebody (@Petra) was posting factually correct answers which were hidden because her (correct) replies were being downvoted. All that was left was people agreeing with stuff they wanted to hear rather than reality.

I left the official group some time before it was closed - and for the same reaon. I hope this one isn't allowed to go the same way.

          DuncanThePig Welcome!

just read a thread on Reddit to find nothing but misinformation.

Was that the thread with the "Clients hire fake freelancers to improve their hire rate. Proof: They hired within 3 to 6 hours of the job being posted" thread?

Or one of the "Connects are the devil's work" ones?
