  • Anyone Tried the New Paid Instant Job Notifications?

Hi Natasha,

I haven't had a chance to use it yet but I am interested to see how well it works.

I'm thinking that if there is more effort applied to filter dud and duplicate posts maybe it could be ok, other wise it might need a high amount of connects used for it to work well, similar to reports on boosting / "advertising".

As much as I'd like a similar feature to RSS back, poring connects into a black hole is defiantly not a smart option for me. With standard advertising you at least get coverage metrics and solid analytics, were as Upworks style of "advertising" I don't find appealing.

Turned it on but it's December so things are slowww. Even my boosted profile isn't getting much compared to other months. It's about that time to hibernate.

From the feedback I have seen it would appear that it works very badly.

I wouldn't have use for it anyway, if I want to look for new jobs I check the feed, doesn't take long. I do not believe that applying early brings meaningful advantages for the kind of projects I go after (bigger & higher value ones).

Alexandra I think it'll be a recurring payment, not sure if weekly or.... I doubt it's one off.
And they charge different prices for it, some people pay nothing, some pay 30, some 65

Daniel OMG! I'm not a big earner, but even if I was, I'd think twice about it. (Especially now that I am reading a book by Robert Heller on what really matters in business, like ROI etc.)

I have never spent extra Connects, and never will.

Except if they bring back the skill tests.

Ravi now that's something I'd be will to spend connects on.. Actually maybe don't hold me to that

Lots of people talking about this, but I can't find it. Where is it supposed to be?

MariaT I don't think everyone is getting it yet.

It's also not working well or at all. People are saying they are not getting any notifications, so...

Petra Thanks, I wanted to see what the topic was about. From what I've read, it seems that it's not very accurate 8(

Mark Thanks. I don't see any place to register yet. As Petra says, I guess it won't be available for everyone.

I have just checked the link from @Mark, and it shows I have an offer as 65 connects, roughly $10. (Maybe I am a victim of big data-enabled price discrimination against existing customers 😂) I see one of member in China community post a message in our Wechat group, and he has contacted Upwork support and get some answer about this new Instant Job Alert feature.

_"Thank you for contacting the Upwork Support team. I'd be here to assist you with your inquiry.

It's good to know that you're interested in the instant job alerts feature. Currently, it's in the beta phase and it would be 30 Connects for 30 days.

This is how the feature works:

If you've submitted a proposal to at least one active job on Upwork, you're eligible! The more proposals you send, the more job alerts we can share with you. These alerts are tailored to the jobs you've previously applied for, helping you discover only the best opportunities. You'll receive them right after a similar job is posted, so you can be among the first to jump in and apply!

For now, there is no option to cancel it as it is a one-time Connect payment for 30-day access and freelancers must opt-in again for each additional 30-day period.

I hope the information helps. If you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know anytime; we'll be happy to help."_

I probably will try and see how it gonna work compare with my own searching result and current recommend job.

Nope. But I've seen posts on the Reddit site where people who have paid received zero notifications.
