It would be nice to have clients too on FF.

Not just for help (as in the Clients forum in Upwork) but also for interaction with freelancers.

A job board would involve way too much, but a platform for clients and freelancers to interact would be great.

I just like to chat with regulars. Probs sounds strange but I've made friends on the forum. Might be through zoom but it's refreshing to talk to someone through zoom and just complain about things most freelancers won't understand. Even high earners have issues and troubles.

Insight into how rly find something lucrative not just empty sounding like bot made articles. Some real good informations.

I'm only interested in chatting with experienced freelancers about real freelancer issues. I'm not here to be some sort of support agent for everything Upwork-related, and I'm definitely not interested in lots of whining about how Upwork is evil and unfair, and how we should all get together to build a new and better freelancing platform. If I want that crap, I can go to Reddit.

Eve I am just here to complain about other freelancers and how evil Petra is.

These are all great answers - I particularly like the point about now wanting to be a place for complaining about upwork, you're right - there's already PLENTY of places to go if that's what you want.

We should be encouraging positive interactions between freelancers of all stripes.
The fact that a majority came here from upwork-community is nice part of our story, but shouldn't limit us to just talking about upwork related stuff.

We do have a fiver section too - happy to expand the platform specific stuff, if anyone has any suggestions for other marketplaces to add!

AND I think Vlad should add a new group for Bangladesh. @Russell - do you have any other local freelancers that would like to join and be part of the regional group?

I am all about @Eve but...it's inevitable. I don't think there is anything you can do to stop it in a public forum. The only saving grace for a while is they will be slow to find it then you will have an onslaught of haters and low effort posters.

            • Eve replied to this.

Morgan I benefit enormously from hearing what other people do, what tools they use, and the educational opportunities they see. Also any 'behind the scenes' insights about clients, companies or institutions. Because WYS is not always WYG on the 'jobs' market.

Yes, this is not a replacement for the Upwork forum.

Bring in other freelancer from other platforms, and clients too.

Hahaha! You've clearly spent too much time on Reddit.

That might be true, but it's possible to not encourage it. It already seems that posts about Upwork issues don't get a lot of engagement here, which I find to be positive.

Maybe a group called Upwork Support or something could be created, and then maybe a feature where we could opt out from seeing anything with that tag. (Actually, opting out from seeing stuff with a specific tag is something I would like anyway.)

Ravi Most of the regulars I've met from elance and upwork were from the old school forum days when it was fun. I was technically banned from the elance forums but a bunch of them had a private forum. We've drifted apart but we are still connected on Facebook 15 years later. It's fun to see how they are doing. I think they are before even Vlad's time.
