  • Time for weekly wins! What's your win this week?

Inspired by @JessicaKay's advice, kicking off a weekly thread and asking everyone to share their wins from the first full week of 2025. πŸ…πŸΉπŸ§‰

For me, I've completed editing the first Community Talk event recording and will be sharing it very soon. As for a general Community win, we've created a new group on request and are seeing new people joining and seeking advice now on regular basis.

Picking tangerines from the tree in my garden for breakfast. I'll never tire of that.
Upwork related: Got a message (not an invite, just a random message) I originally thought was just spam, but which led to an $800+ contract within 40 minutes.

I volunteer/ help out behind the scenes for a cool local hockey team.
Last week I got to give out the beers at the end of the games for the players of the match.

Its been a difficult few weeks for me - but this was fun. It was nice to get out and be sociable.

Well, I've had a couple of injuries in the last few months that have made it seem like wins are hard to find, butβ€”I finally researched and purchased a brace for one of the injured joints this week, after docs gave me zero direction once again, and I feel pain-free in one area that had become an absolute plague. It's so liberating! Let's call that a win.

And after a very rough year of losing my mother and a whole bunch of other impossible stuff, I can say today that I've made it through oneβ€”it's my birthday. 🍾 If it's just a quiet day I'm gonna call that a win, too!

What feels like a win for me was really more a win for my biz partner in that we reworked and published a client mobile app that had been delisted for install. We have worked on to the Google Play Store (Apple are still being d***s about it but they are coming around). She did most of the work but it was a major stressor for both of us.

My actual win was I built a wireframe for a client for a new system they want and they sounded pretty jazzed about it. With the unexpected mobile work, ongoing work with that same client, and this new client work, looking like 1Q is going to be a great start to 2025.

        Vladimir stickied the discussion .

Petra I have my boys out clearing ice off my driveway for the second attempt today (at least the sun is out) so this makes me profoundly jealous.

        Thanks, everybody! :-))))))))

Bad couple of days. My MS Office setup is messed up.

The win: We had bright sunshine, and I hope it lasts.

With the ice gone, I have resumed picking up cigarette stubs (and litter) off the pavement in my vicinity and disposing of them properly. I re-read New Hart's Rules (Do contractions take full points?) and started on a David Ignatius thriller. I spent more money on connects than previously, and made some donations to charity with money saved from not using the car and various electrical appliances. And I decided to learn how to publish ebooks in order to offer a full service to clients. And I reassured myself that small wins are fine as long as you keep striving for the bigger stuff.
Oh, and: Happy Birthday, Kelly! 2025 will be better. I just know it. (My 2024 was ****, too.)

Vladimir first week started with a very positive note for me. I had the highest billing week for me in my Upwork carrier. Looking forward to an extraordinary 2025

Vladimir I'm excited to hear/see the Community talk recording! Sorry I'm a little late to this but my win came in late on Friday, but it still came! I had two Upwork clients come back to me with more work (BOTH late on Friday). It's been a quiet few weeks with them because of the holidays, but we are back in business!

I'm loving reading all of these wins!

So far this year I haven't felt very motivated to do much of anything, so I've already worked up a substantial backlog of work I need to get done. On the bright side, I did manage my New Year resolution of taking 2 days off.

Since I didn't get much billable work done, I did some admin work instead. And I closed all my inactive contracts on Upwork. One of my clients left feedback, so I count that as a win. "Eve is a real igaming pro. She understands the industry extremely well and operates at an extremely high level. You can give her an objective and she'll figure out how to make it happen. Will hire again. Thank you Eve!"

All in all, 2025 isn't so bad. Hopefully I'll be a bit more productive next week.

No weekly wins for me. I did however started binge watching Stargate Atlantis and halfway there. When I think about it, that's a win and an awesome one!
