Hello everyone,

We're thrilled to announce the launch of social profiles! 🎉 Here's how it works and looks.

In the User Hero/User Card section of your profile, click the + button

After clicking, a modal will open allowing you to add social media profiles

You can add a title and URL. The system will automatically fetch the appropriate icon, or you can select one manually

Within the modal, you can add more social profiles with the + button or delete previously added ones with the - button.

Once added, social profile will show on your profile page and as a user card popover from within posts (hover over any user name)

I don't know if anybody was planning to but please, please can we avoid using badges?

I think the gamification badges on the official forum hastened its demise because they rewarded people for posting anything under the notion it would help their Upwork career. I know they helped to push me away from the forum.

The Guru badges beforehand also had their drawbacks because they led newbies into a false sense that anybody with a Guru badge always gave good advice, I'm sure most of us who know will be thinking of the same person who was a prime example of 'Guru' badges being a bad idea. (His name started with a P and ended with reston)

It would be good if some members (like Petra) were flagged as people that others should listen to, but I don't know how that should work. Upvotes, for example, are unreliable because too many people upvote comments they want to hear regardless of their accuracy and vice versa.

It might be best to avoid badges altogether unless somebody smarter than I can think of a way to make them work.

I asked for the termination of my community profile in Upwork after they bombarded me with badges.
If FF introduces badges, it should also introduce an account deletion option in the settings.
I have very little patience for gamification.

I don't care one way or another about badges. But I think it would be nice if it would be possible to show what people do, like writers, translators, graphic designers, developers, and so on. Could sometimes be useful to see who's in the same category as oneself, in case one has a category-specific question or topic. It would make it easier to see who might actually know what they're talking about, and who should just be ignored. Years of experience as a freelancer could also be useful.
