Video Interviews – as the only form to respond to a client's invite

Today I received two invites from clients on Upwork. When I tried to accept them – the only option to do so was a video interview with an AI (required). I don't like to be forced to do anything especially for my money – I boost my profile (just giving it a try, will see if it makes any difference). I don't remember agreeing on these interviews. Is it in the current Terms and Conditions? Also I'm simply sick right now and don't feel like being on camera or record or share my voice.

If it's just an identity verification form – it could be done in a different way.

I feel like Upwork becomes more totalitarian. I understand that community forums were shut. It seem like there is no way to talk to a human customer support agent anymore, is AI the only option now?

And now this – we're forced to do these interviews.

abanamat Although I do take AI verification interviews, I dislike like the idea of each and every client requesting a video interview for a basic contract job. It wastes a lot of bandwidth, storage, and electricity! What's more, freelancers are turning up seeking to hire proxies to take the interview for them (I had such a request yesterday).

My advice is to keep it short and perhaps turn off the camera.

That's completely new to me. Thanks for bringing it to light. It is perplexing as interviews for me are an opportunity to ask questions, vet the client and the project. This instead, sounds like an unilateral interview, where we are just supposed to answer questions posed by AI? Is this correct? Or is mine a wrong assumption?
