Freelancer Search: Job-based vs Talent Search

Just a little inside info gleaned today:

(Potential) Client told me today that he finds it difficult to find people he's previously identified and / or spoken to directly within the job search & invite feature.

Said he couldn't find me there; said the UI is bad. Had to go to talent search and invite me to his job post from there.

So seems like I might be being found better by Talent Search, and not very well within the job-side search interface. Sounds like the two searches are surfacing different results.

Any more insights out there on this?

I'm freelancer only, so haven't used the client-side interface myself.

If the client has never hired you but just messaged in the past, he can easily search your name or job invite name within Upwork Messages. If he hired you in the past tell them this.

To rehire me:

Go to “Hire Talent / Talent You’ve Hired.”
Find my name in the list.
Click the three dots (...) next to it.
Choose “Rehire” to send a new offer, or “Invite to Job” if the job is already posted.

Cheers for that. He did manage to invite me later.

I found it interesting that there appears to be a freelancer search facility within the job post itself, by the sounds of it (makes sense), and that he couldn't find me in that search.

Makes me think my profile is not tuned to that particular type of search for some reason, and that it obviously behaves differently from Talent Search.

Robin Ohhh ok thanks for clarifying that. I know what search he's referring to and I've had the same issue.

Robin I haven't hired in a while, but I remember having the same problem ages ago. It was a mystery to me why none of the names yielded any results.

However, another quick-find option is to give long-term clients your profile URL to enter in their browser.
